Do 'Gaurakshaks' really treat cows as sacred?

Cookies, Milk, Ice Cream, Chocolate, Strawberry Milk Shake and Cheese all sounds healthy, nutritious and pure. The fact that we lack behind is how the dairy industry made us believe that milk comes from happy cows. But, this is a big lie which we believed from childhood or from ancient times. The fact is that the dairy sector very brutal to cattle. Their main aim is to produce milk and make money, without thinking even a bit about the cattle and what they must be going through.

Nowadays when 'gaurakshaks' claim to protect cows, why they are not protecting them from the dairy industries who have turned these animals into milk machines, and are no more treated as sacred. The 'gaurakshaks' talk about the importance of cows in Hinduism and also pointed out the religious sentiments attached to it, but the truth is humans have a habit of taking care of things only till they can benefit out of it. Cow slaughtering have become a political affair. But the job of Gaurakshaks should not be limited to just putting an end to their slaughter. They should refrain cow from cruelty by dairy industries.

At every stage, these animals are treated with utter cruelty and their only "Rakshaks" nowhere to be seen. Calves are taken away from their mothers minutes after birth and left to starve. The ones who manage to survive despite lack of proper mother's love and milk, are exploited for more milk, and the ones who don't, are slaughtered and sold off. These calves are not even allowed to go around their mother after their birth. Cows are highly familial beings and have strong family bonds, but the dairy industry denies these animals any interaction with their families. In fact, a lot of cows die in grief of being separated from their calves.

In the name of protecting cows, cow vigilantism is on the high in the country. As per US report on international religious freedom " There was an increase in violent incidents by cow protection groups mostly against Muslims in India in the year 2016". The report also stated that the authorities often failed to prosecute cow vigilantes. (data from livemint)

Now its high time to protect cow in real means. People term cow slaughter as cruel, but is milking them to death justified? People consider cows as sacred and treat them as family members. But why are they abandoned or sent for slaughter? The cows are being brutally used in dairy farms, milked to death and some were discarded and abandoned after being used as maxima. There are several dairy industry but only a few hundred Gaushalas to cater 'useless' cows (term used by dairy farms).
