Bachpan (Childhood)

Mid-day meal a toxic lesson

Binod Mahto, Ajay Kumar, Lati Devi, Harendra Mishra, Lal Bhadur Prasad, Ramanand Rai and many others, they must not be well known names but they are well known somehow. They were the one who have lost their kids mostly aged 4 to 11years in 2013’s mid-day meal tragedy. At least 23 kids were died on ill-fated 16 July leaving behind the faint cries of the wailing mothers.

In return to this tragic incident the state government slapped the poor on the face. They bought poor man’s silence with a cheque of 2 lakh each. The question is that is this really enough? There is a large section of society still juggling to survive with their empty plates. The people mentioned above are finding it hard to live without their kids and were not even comfortable with the dole.

Prime Minister in his speech delivered on 15 August, talked about 11 crore children being provided afternoon meals everyday in schools under the Mid-day scheme. Is this how the food has been served? The question is on the implementation of the scheme.

Apart from this tragedy, to make matter more worse there were no doctors even hospital to treat the children. Neglecting this scenario the state government hinted that the poisoning could be conspiracy. No hospitals, no doctors- Is this could be the part of any conspiracy? What about the deaths of innocent children. What was there fault? What was the mistake of the wailing parents who had trusted the school to provide their kids healthy food and future.

Without taking any lesson from this tragic incident, still reports of mid-day meal contaminated with deadly insecticides were being reported. It’s high time to learn a lesson. Pledge to provide a healthy food on the plates of children. Not to play with their lives.

Cost for standing against corruption

Rhetoric question ‘Corruption’ which never had an answer, if someone dares to raise voice will get the reply in terms of his life.

This what Ram Kumar Thakur got when he raised himself against the irregularities in the implementation of MNREGS in his native village Bihar’s Ratnauli. Till his last breath he worked to make his native town a corruption-free place to live in. is Indian could ever free from corruption? As a young Indian we were considered the bright future of the country and were given the responsibility to eradicate corruption from the country. But here the question is, are we ready to work for the country at the sake of our lives or of our family’s you never know. This all from Ram Kumar, lawyer by profession had to suffered from while working for the welfare of his place. Till his last breath he worked for the welfare which always led him into trouble in the form of threats, torture, false charges etc. And finally he got murdered when he approached court and demanded probe into MNEGS irregularities inspite of many warnings.

The matter doesn’t ended here his family even alleges the involvement of local police in this murder as on their way to the hospital, police took Ram Thakur took him to some other place in unnumbered vehicle and when the kin of the victim reached the hospital he was declared dead by the hospital mates.

The activists now demanded the compensation from the government. This is not the first case in Bihar. There were many Ram Kumar Thakur have died fighting for the society, just to eradicate the deadly communicable disesase whose venom is spreading all over.

Is this the cost an independent citizen of an independent country has to pay for raising voice against ill doings?
